QR Codes
What is a QR code?
You may have seen the strange looking blocky images on iPosters product pages, in a magazine, or an advertising board and wondered “what are they?“
|
They are called QR (Quick Response) codes and simply put they are a more sophisticated version of the good old fashioned bar code. A bar code has to be scanned by a laser scanner and can only return the data as numbers.
On the other hand a QR code can be read by any iPhone or Android phone with the appropriate free app. QR codes can link your phone to a web site address. It can display text, send an SMS message or even make a phone call, just by pointing the camera on your phone at the QR code!
The 3 examples below will take you to the iPosters.co.uk home page, display a text message and give you a discount voucher code.

Why should I be interested in QR codes?
You may think “so what” but that was the response to SMS text messaging back in the early ‘90s. With camera phones being so widespread the possibilities are endless.
How do I get involved?
You can get a free QR reader for your phone and if you want to generate QR codes for your own use you can use one of the many sites that are available. Here are some links.
